Chargers Fall Short in Round 1

CYPRESS, Calif. ---  The Cypress Chargers came into the first round of the So Cal Regionals looking to take advantage of the #7 seed and home court advantage.  

Throughout the first set of the night, it looked as if the Chargers were going to roll over the Cougars.  Cypress came out firing, taking down Canyons in convincing fashion by a score of (25-13). 

After set number one, the Cougars started heating up. The back and forth second set ended up going Canyons way, ending in a Cougar victory, (25-22).

College of the Canyons never looked back after the second set and defeated the Chargers in set number three by a score of (25-15), and finished off the night by defeating Cypress in set number four (25-17).  

Ani Green and Kiki Atuatasi both led Cypress in kills with 10 a piece while Allyson Dekruyf led the team in assists with 29.  

Holly Webster recorded 19 digs and was able to tack on two service aces to her stat line.  

The Chargers finished the 2013 season as the runner-up in the very competitive Orange Empire Conference and closed out the year with an impressive (16-8) overall record.
