SOFTBALL: SEASON ENDS IN THE PLAYOFFS

The #12 Lady Hornets ended their season over the weekend after getting swept by #5 El Camino College two games to none (best of three series) in the first round of the SoCal Regionals.

In game one on Saturday, Fullerton lost a close one 2-0 against the Warriors. El Camino scored the only two runs of the game in the third inning. The Hornet offense could not respond leaving 7 of their base runners stranded.

FC pitcher Brigid Ruiz tossed 6 solid innings with 1 earned run, 3 K's, no walks, with 3 hits allowed.

Then on Sunday, FC could not handle El Camino's offensive power and they fell 8-3. The Warriors jumped all over the Hornets early scoring four runs in the first inning. Fullerton tried to chip away, but El Camino score three more runs in the fourth keeping the Hornets at bay.

Ruiz began the day in the circle going 3.1 innings with 6 hits, 4 earned runs, had 3 K's, with 3 walks. Nicole Pratt came in to relieve throwing 2.2 innings with 3 hits against, 1 earned run, 1 strikeout, and 2 walks.

The Hornets had a fine season going 23-18 overall and were ranked #8 in SoCal in March. It was also the first time since 2010 that the team had made the playoffs. The 2010 team made it all the way to the Regional Finals.
