FULLERTON - Scoring runs this season hasn't been a problem for the Marauder softball team.
And against Fullerton College on Tuesday afternoon it was no different. AVC had no trouble against the Hornets with an easy 9-3 victory.
Erica Serfoss and Dolly Stevens continued to tear up opposing pitchers on the season. Serfoss went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. She boosted her gaudy batting average to .550 which ranks 10th in the state.
Stevens hasn't been too bad either as she finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Stevens is hitting .486 on the season. As a team the Marauders rank ninth in overall team batting average (.377).
Fullerton led 3-0 after three innings, including a home run by Miranda Hernandez off AVC pitcher Maria Acosta in the bottom of the third inning.
The Marauders, however, exploded in the final three innings by scoring four runs in the fifth, two in the sixth and three in the seventh. Acosta helped herself out at the plate when she singled in Stevens to give AVC its first run of the game.
Acosta pitched seven strong innings allowing only three runs on nine hits. She was 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBI. Priscella Panizo was 2-for-4 with two RBI for the Marauders.
