BASEBALL: WRONG SIDE OF A PITCHERS' DUEL

The Hornets took the field at home on Saturday and fell victim to Saddleback College in a 1-0 pitcher's duel.

The game was scoreless with two outs in the top of the sixth inning until Gaucho 2B Dylan Diaz singled through the right side giving Jack Kaloogian the opportunity to score the game's only run (unearned).

From there, FC struggled to bring men home as they stranded 5 base runners on the day. Saddleback left 7 runners on base.

The win sets the Hornets back at 13-5 overall and 3-2 in the Orange Empire Conference. The Gaucho win lifts them to 12-5 overall and 2-3 in the OEC.

FC starter Kyle Lazcano (3-2) tossed a strong game going 6.1 innings with 5 hits against, 1 unearned run, 1 walk, and 1 strikeout. RP Nico Castaneda went 1.1 innings with no hits and a K. RP Randall Ortiz logged in 1.1 innings with a hit against and no runs.

Saddleback's Dominique Key (3-1) took the win going 6 innings with 5 hits against, no runs, 2 walks, and 6 K's. RP Trevor Charpie earned his second save of the season throwing 3 innings with 2 hits against and a strikeout.
