BASEBALL: FULLERTON GOES UP ON SANTA ANA

The Hornets beat the Dons in a 4-1 decision at Santa Ana College on Tuesday for their second win of the season series.

The loss drops the Dons to 12-16-1 overall and 2-12 in conference, while Fullerton improves to 19-10 overall and 8-6 in conference.

The Hornets scored their first run in the second inning on a DH Shane Carrier sacrifice fly that scored 1B Oscar Heredia before catcher Jeffrey Murray drove in Carrier in the fifth inning on a RBI-single.

Fullerton added a pair of unearned runs in the seventh inning with LF Anthony Seminaris singling in Murray before Heredia plated Seminaris on a fielder's choice.

The Dons lone run came across in the eighth inning with Nestor Linares scoring when Cameron Baranek reached on an error. Linares reached earlier in the inning on a double to left-centerfield.

FC starting pitcher Dylan Prohoroff (8-2) took the win as he held the Dons to one unearned run on five hits over eight innings of work. Reliever Nico Castaneda got the save allowing only a hit in the ninth inning.

Up Next: The Hornets and Dons will wrap up their season series this Thursday, April 9th when Santa Ana comes to Hornet Field. The first pitch goes out at 2:00 pm.
