BASEBALL: HORNETS ALL OVER SANTA ANA

The #1 FC baseball squad came to play on Thursday handing #3 Santa Ana College a 9-1 loss on Hornet Field.

The game began as a pitching duel with no score until the bottom of the third inning when FC scored the game first run on a ground out by Julio Rivera that advanced Laine Huffman across home plate.

FC added three more runs in the fifth inning on a Julio Rivera single that brought in Huffman, Brett Halasz scored on a balk, and Oscar Heredia's double to right field scored Rivera.

Up 4-0, the Hornets broke the game open in the seventh dropping five more runs on the Dons. Huffman scored on a fielding error, Halasz was walked in, Anthony Semenaris singled through the left side of the field scoring Justin Row, Rivera scored on an error, and Heredia scored FC's ninth run on Garrett Basehart's fielder's choice. 

With the game well at hand, Santa Ana managed a run in the eighth on a double to center field by Rafael Ceja that allowed Devan Campos to score.

Hornet starter Gordan Cardenas was on point putting in seven innings of work with 6 hits against, 1 earned run, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. RP Nico Castaneda worked a no-hit inning with a strikeout. RP Axel Cruz threw an inning with a hit against and a strikeout.
