MEN'S BASKETBALL: TRIPLE DIGIT WIN

The #9 Hornets did what they had to do at home Thursday night beating Santa Ana College 105-53.

The Fullerton win helps them keep pace in the tough Orange Empire Conference, where they trail #1 Saddleback College by one game (9-1 conference). The win brings FC's overall record to 21-5, while the Don loss stymies them at 5-19 overall and 1-9 in the OEC.

The Hornets lit it up from three-point-land hitting five straight in the opening minutes of the game. Fullerton did not let up as they went on to take a 40-11 lead by the 10-minute mark. By halftime, Fullerton led 61-23.

FC took their biggest lead in the second half (54) with 3:38 left in the game.

As a team, Fullerton hit 19 out of 40 attempts from beyond the arc giving them their largest win on the season.

The 52-point margin of victory is significant, but does not eclipse the margin set in 1940 when the Hornets beat Citrus 92-17 (75 points).

FC's Julian Richardson scored a team-high 19 points with 5 assists. Ian Fox dropped in 15 points (5-6 3-pointers), and Jayson Collins put up 17 points off the bench. Kenny Barnes slashed his way the basket scoring 14 points and had 8 rebounds.

Five Hornet sophomores were honored before the game, as it was their last game in the Hornets Nest. FC players Isaiah Clark, Jayson Collins, Adam Johnson, Blake McBride, and Julian Richardson were presented with framed photos of themselves in game action as their families and friends congratulated them.

Up Next: The Hornets (21-5, 9-1) will play two crucial road games next week that will determine their fate on the OEC and where they will land in the post-season. On Wednesday, February 17th FC will play at #1 Saddleback College (24-1, 10-0) @ 7:00 pm. On Friday, February 19th the Fullerton will play at cross-town rival #15 Cypress College (20-6, 7-3) @ 7:00 pm.
