WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: DOWN TO THE WIRE

The Lady Hornets suffered their second nail-biting loss this week as Orange Coast College dashed FC's hopes 45-44 Friday night.

This back-and-forth game featured 11 lead changes 9 ties, and neither team owned a lead of more than five points.

Even the battle of the quarters were split with OCC winning the second (14-10) and third (11-10). FC won the first (12-14) and fourth (8-10).

With score 45-44, the game came down to the final shot in which Hornet guard Emily Dy took the ball from mid-court and drove down the middle of the key, where she pulled up and shot from the free throw line. With three seconds left in the game, the ball sailed through the air and then clanked off the rim dashing Fullerton's hopes of a victory.

Jasmine Young led the Hornets in scoring with 15 points. She also achieved a double-double bringing down 14 rebounds. Center Monica Hanna had a night bringing down 17 boards along with 7 points. Nancy De La Cruz scored 9 points with 4 rebounds, and Melissa Madrigal put up 7 points with 3 rebounds.

The loss keeps the Hornets winless in the tough Orange Empire Conference at 0-3, and their overall record takes a hit at 4-11. OCC's win boosts their overall record to 12-8 and their OEC record to 3-1.

Up Next: Fullerton (4-11, 0-3) will look to grab their first OEC win on Wednesday, January 20th when they hit the road against Santa Ana College (13-6, 2-1).
