NORCO, Calif.- College of the Desert women's soccer suffered its first setback of the 2015 season, as they fell 4-1 at the hands of Norco College in Norco.
Norco opened the game's scoring in the 22nd minute, and held off a furious COD attack to enter the break up 1-0.
In the 61st minute, Norco extended its lead to 2-0, but a quick answer from the Lady Roadrunners cut the score to 2-1 just a minute later. Sophomore forward Shadae Brown (Palm Springs, CA / Palm Springs HS) made a nice play to break through the Norco defense, then struck a well-placed chip over the goalkeeper's head for her second goal of the young season.
Norco followed with two unanswered goals of their own, setting the final tally at 4-1.
Freshman goalkeeper Brianna Lazzarini (Indio, CA / La Quinta HS) made one save in net for the Lady Roadrunners, while freshman midfielder Madison Decker (Palm Desert, CA / Aquinas HS) collected the lone assist on Brown's goal.
College of the Desert (2-1) returns to the field this Friday, September 4 when they travel to Glendale for a 5 p.m. match.
