No. 6 Cypress Shuts Out Norco 7-0
Cypress – The No. 6 Charger soccer team shut out Norco 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon to extend their win streak to four games. Today's game marked the 13th shutout of the season for Cypress as the Chargers improved to 13-1-4 on the year and 10-1-3 in OEC play. Norco fell to 2-14-1 overall and is still winless in conference play.
 
Six different players scored for Cypress in the game with Jade Perez leading the way with two. The Chargers previously beat Norco 7-0 on the road on Oct. 3.
 
Liz Gutierrez started off the scoring for Cypress in the 12th minute as Jenny Marin provided the assist. Just over 20 minutes later, Marin got in on the scoring action with a goal as Jade Perez got the assist. Jackie Gomez scored in the 37th minute thanks to an assist by Michaila Martin as Cypress led 3-0 after the first half.
 
Perez scored her first goal of the game in the 59th minute after a pass by Marina Thomas. Thomas then scored a goal two minutes later (60') to push Cypress' lead to 5-0. With nine minutes to play (36'), Perez notched her second goal of the game thanks to another Thomas pass. Laura Najera then scored the final goal of the game in the 39th minute as Perez picked up an assist on the goal.
 
The Chargers head to Irvine Valley (11-3-4, 8-3-2 OEC) on Friday, Nov. 7 for a pivotal conference matchup at 3:00 pm.
