WOMEN'S WATER POLO: HORNETS AVENGE A LOSS

The FC women's water polo team hosted Golden West College on Wednesday and handed the Rustlers their third loss on the season with a 10-5 victory.

Both teams came into the game with only two losses on the season. GWC had beaten Fullerton a few weeks ago 12-8 in a non-conference match-up at the Cuesta College Tournament. That loss put a hault to FC's 47-game unbeaten streak.

The Hornet win gives them an overall record of 18-2 and an Orange Empire Conference record of 4-0, while the loss for the Rustlers sets them back to 11-3 overall and 2-2 in the OEC.

Golden West took an early 2-1 lead using their speed to their advantage, but Fullerton goalie Shannon Tully was nearly impenetrable with 18 saves on the day.

As the game progressed, Fullerton took advantage of a worn-out and frustrated GWC team in order to secure the win against one of the state's top teams.

Up Next: FC will participate in the Long Beach City Tournament (Battle of the Beach) October 23-24. The Hornets are set to open up against Cerritos College this Friday at 8:00 am.
