MEN'S SOCCER: THE SEASON ENDS AT SANTA ANA

The #11 Hornets ended their exciting season under new head coach Greg Aviles on Saturday with a 3-2 loss to #6 Santa Ana College in the first round of the Southern California Regionals.

The first half of the match went scoreless as both teams were on point defensively.

All the scoring broke open in the second half begining with a goal by Santa Ana's Matheus Silva in the 47th minute. Silva shot was assisted by Everado Serrano.

In the 54th minute the Hornets tied it up on a shot by Eduin Munguia's solo shot.

Serrano knocked in a solo shot for the Dons in the 72nd minute to go up 2-1 on Fullerton.

FC came back to tie the game again in the 74th minute on an unassited goal by Kory Edwards.

Israel Espinoza kicked in the game's final goal on an assist by Serrano.

With ten minutes left in regulation, the Hornets did their best to tie the game back up, but they did not have enough in the tank.

FC goalie Julioan Ochoa had 3 saves in 90 minutes of play.

Santa Ana will now head up to #3 Oxnard College for the second round of regionals. 

It was a very successful 2016 season that produced a team that ranked in the top 20, a playoff berth, 4 All-Conference players, 1 SoCal Regional player, and 1 All-State player. Under new head coach Greg Aviles this Hornet soccer program has a very bright future.
