WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: HORNET OFFENSE HALTED

In their first conference game of the season, the Fullerton College women's basketball team played #12 in state Irvine Valley on the road Wednesday night and lost big to the Lasers 74-32.

The 42-point loss breaks the school record for the largest margin of defeat. The original mark was set in 1981 at 35 points. FC also tied the record for fewest points in a game (against Cypress in 2013 and Ventura in 1991).

Fullerton is now 0-1 in the Orange Empire Conference and sits at 4-7 overall. IVC moves to 1-0 in the OEC and 13-4 overall. They also tied the record for lowest point total in a game.

Irvine Valley was up, 15-8, at the end of the first quarter, 34-17, at halftime and then jumped on Fullerton in the third quarter, out-scoring the Hornets, 26-3, to go ahead, 60-20.

Monica Hanna led the Hornets in scoring with 7 points and added 5 rebounds. Melissa Madrigal followed up with 5 points.

Up Next: Fullerton (4-7, 0-1) will look to turn it around on Wednesday, January 13th when they play at Riverside City College for another conference match-up. Tip off is at 7:00 pm.
