PALM DESERT, Calif. - College of the Desert women's volleyball fought tooth-and-nail in a 3-0 (12-25, 16-25, 19-25) loss at the hands of visiting Riverside this evening in Palm Desert.
Sophomore Alyssa Cazares (Indio, CA/Shadow Hills HS) led the attack for the Lady Roadrunners, as she drilled eight kills. Freshman Savannah Sharp (Palm Desert, CA/Palm Desert HS) followed with six kills of her own, while sophomore Maygan Zink (Palm Springs, CA/Palm Springs HS) dished out 21 assists.
Freshman Kaylie Edgar (Palm Springs, CA/Palm Springs HS) was strong defensively for COD, as she recorded 16 of their 34 total digs. As a team, the Lady Roadrunners tallied three totals block, and three service aces.
College of the Desert (2-7) returns to the court next Wednesday, September 16 for a 5 p.m. match against San Diego.
