Cypress – The Cypress women's basketball team (15-5, 3-0 OEC) knocked off Santa Ana (6-13, 0-3 OEC) on Friday evening, helping Head Coach Margaret Mohr tally her 300th career win in 17 seasons with the Chargers.
Four players scored in double-digits for Cypress, highlighted by Jeana Magaña's 21. The sophomore guard also tallied 12 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the season. Lauren Hong was the No. 2 scorer for the Chargers with 17, while Haley Gorman added 15 and Deshields Fajardo scored 13.
Cypress led 59-36 at the halftime break after an impressive first 20 minutes of play where the team shot 64% from the field. For the game, the Chargers shot 53% compared to Santa Ana's 40%.
Cypress will next host Irvine Valley (16-3, 3-0 OEC) on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 5:00 pm before hitting the road on Friday, Jan. 23 to face Fullerton (13-5, 2-1 OEC) at 5:00 pm.
