SOFTBALL: LADY HORNETS STUN #1 SCC

Down 4-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth, the FC softball team stunned #1 Santiago Canyon College on Friday afternoon scoring four unanswered runs to win a tough Orange Empire Conference game 5-4.

The win helps Fullerton to an overall record of 6-6 and an Orange Empire Conference record of 2-1. The SCC loss gives them their second on the season and their first in the OEC (11-2 overall, 3-1 OEC).

It was the fifth inning that got it going for the Hornets as they climbed out of a 4-1 deficit off of the bat of catcher Anissa Loera. With the bases loaded, Loire hit a shot into left field for a double that emptied the bases scoring Brigid Ruiz, Desiree Lopez, and Arianna Ramirez. Next at bat, Erin Molina singled to right field scoring Loera for the fifth and winning run.

Starting pitcher Evelyn Hernandez tossed 3 innings giving up 7 hits and two earned runs. Brigid Ruiz stepped into the circle and threw a hitter in four innings of work. She also had two strikeouts and no walks.

Offensivley, FC out-hit Santiago Canyon 9-8. Loera was 2-3 at the plate with a run scored and 3 RBI. Desiree Lopez was 2-3 with 2 runs scored. Tiffiny Centeno, Salena Silva, Becca Perez, Molina, and Ruiz all had hits on the day.

Up Next: The Hornets (6-6, 2-1) will host Citrus College on Monday, February 29th at 3:00 pm. Come on out and support the team!
