Early Goals Lead to Tie

In their first game of the season the men's soccer team at MiraCosta came out hot.  The Spartans scored two goals in the first half including the first goal in the 2nd minute of the game. After taking a 2-0 lead MiraCosta gave up two goals ending the game in a tie.  The first goal for the home Spartans was scored by sophomore Edgar Martinez and came after the Orange Coast goalie over-extended and left an opening for Martinez to score.  The second goal was scored in the 16th minute but freshman Jordan Curry

Despite a 2-0 lead the Spartans gave up a penalty kick at the end of the first half and then another goal in the 54th minute of the game.  The Spartans had a few other quality opportunities to score but couldn't finish them.  Goal keeper Seth Ketterer finished with nine saves for MiraCosta.

MiraCosta has a busy week next week traveling to Mt. San Antonio College on Tuesday (7pm) and LA Harbor College on Friday (11am).
