BASEBALL: RUNNING WILD

The Hornet baseball team won big on the road 12-3 at Southwestern College on Tuesday.

Tied 3-3 going in to the top of the sixth, Fullerton brought two runs across on Josh Balbuena's single that scored Shane Carrier and Austin O'Banion. From there, the Hornets piled it on scoring four runs in the seventh inning and three more in the ninth to secure the win.

The victory gives FC an overall record of 6-1, while the Southwestern loss lands them at 3-4 overall.

FC Pitcher Anthony Parente tossed 5 innings for the win allowing only 1 earned run, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. RP Dylan DeChavez pitched 2 no-hit innings with 2 strikeouts. Gilbert Sanchez and Logan Lannon each went an inning with Lannon giving up a hit.

O'Banion opened of the game for the Hornets with a two-run homerun in the first inning. He had 3 runs and 2 RBI on the day. David Miranda had 3 RBI, Balbuena had 2 RBI, and Brett Halasz had a RBI and a run.

Up Next: The Hornets (6-1) will play this Saturday, February 20th on Hornet Field against LA Mission College. Game time is at 12:00 pm.
