SOFTBALL: ANOTHER OEC WIN

SOFTBALL: ANOTHER OEC WIN

Playing in three games and winning them all this past week, Fullerton wrapped it all up with a 5-3 home-win on Thursday against Saddleback College.

The busy week began on Tuesday when FC hit the road against non-conference San Bernardino Valley College (13-9 overall, 4-2 conference) beating back the Wolverines 7-4. Then on Wednesday, Fullerton won another one on the road against Riverside City College (7-15, 2-8) 2-1 for a needed conference win.

On Thursday, the Hornets grabbed a nice win against the hard-swinging Saddleback College Gauchos (12-7, 7-4).

FC took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on catcher Anissa Loera's double to left center scoring LF Shaylynn Chapman and pitcher Brigid Ruiz.

The Gauchos came storming back in the second inning dropping 3 runs on Fullerton. Designated player Kylee Lologo singled to left field scoring RF Caelan Smith. Catcher Samantha Lima singled to right field allowing Lologo to score, and then CF Allie Potts laid down a bunt that rocketed off the bat to left field for a double that scored Lima.

FC knotted the game up at 3 a piece in the bottom of the second when Ruiz blasted a single up the middle scoring RF Alexis Pintado.

The Hornets took control of the game in the fourth inning when 2B Andrea Enriquez scored on a throwing error by the Saddleback catcher. Then, with the bases loaded Ruiz scored on a balk.

Ruiz tossed a complete 7 inning game allowing 6 hits, 3 earned runs, a walk, and 4 strikeouts. She also had five putouts on the day.

Up Next: The Hornets will continue conference-play at home this Monday, March 23rd against Golden West College. Game time is at 3:00 pm.
