WHITTIER – Rio Hondo College is in the win column thanks to its 3-0 sweep of visiting Fullerton College in its home opener on Wednesday.

The Roadrunners took the match by scores of 25-16, 27-25, and 25-23 to improve to 1-2 overall this season.

Sophomore Maria Bejines put together a solid all-around effort with a team-high 9 kills to go along with 13 digs, 2 aces, and a block. Madison Mader totaled 8 kills and 13 assists, while Jade Fuentes posted 6 kills and 8 digs.

Herlinda Casanova led Rio Hondo with 15 digs and Carly Kejmar had a team-best 16 assists.

The Roadrunners will look to keep the momentum going this weekend when they will compete at the Los Angeles Mission College Kickoff Classic. Rio Hondo faces Citrus College on Friday (Sep. 1) at 10 a.m. to open the event.
