Men’s Basketball Wraps Up 2014-15 Season With Big Win Over OCC

Cypress – The Cypress men's basketball team (11-16, 4-8 OEC) wrapped up the 2014-15 season in decisive fashion, handily defeating visiting Orange Coast (8-16, 6-6 OEC) 82-59 on Friday evening. The Chargers recorded their biggest margin of victory over an opponent this season in the win.

 

The men had an impressive first half, shooting 50% from the three-point line (9-of-18) to assist in giving the Chargers a 46-32 lead at the break. In the second half, Cypress' hot hand continued and the Chargers led by as many as 27 points en route to the team's 11th victory of the season.

 

Sophomore Jerred Cook, playing in his final game for Cypress, led the team with 19 points, while Jordan Fleck added 17. Fleck recorded his first double-double of the season as he grabbed a team-high 13 boards. Overall, the Chargers shot 49% from the field, 45% from behind the arc and 87% from the charity strip. Cypress also out-rebounded the Pirates 37-32 and had 22 assists.

 

In head coach Andrew Alhadeff's first season, the Chargers posted their best overall and conference record since the 2010-11 season when Cypress went 16-12 overall and 6-6 in conference play.
