In the second match of the afternoon the Spartans again jumped out to an early lead in the match winning the first two sets. In set 3 Golden West got on a roll and ran away with the set. The Spartans rebounded in set 4 but could not hold on. Set 5 was a back and forth battle with both teams exchanging points up to 13. MiraCosta was then able to get two points in a row and win their 5th match of the season.
Cady Francis set a school record for digs in a match with 30. Brianna Sizemore led all attackers with 11 kills and she combined with sophomore middle blocker Madeline Sims for 6 blocks, Madie also put away 6 kills on the match. Sophomore Nicole Alderman was the most efficient attacker hitting at a .312 efficiency. Freshman Leah McManus added 8 kills and Elyana Cramer chipped in 7 kills.
The Spartans are now 5-1 on the season.

The Spartans travel to Grossmont College on Wednesday for the second conference match of the season. Game time is 6pm.
