The #7 Lady Hornets suffered their first loss on the season Wednesday night at home against district rival #6 Cypress College 3-2 (15, 25, 25-22, 19-25, 25-18, 7-15).
Fullerton put up a good fight but mistakes cost the team the win. FC committed 17 errors and had 6 service errors while the Chargers had none.
Grace Lopez led the Hornets with 13 kills, 7 aces, and 10 digs while Alex Winfield contributed 9 kills, 24 assists, 7 digs, and 2 block assists.
The loss gives Fullerton an overall record of 8-1 and a 1-1 record in the Orange Empire Conference, while Cypress bumps to 10-1 overall and 1-1 in the OEC. The Chargers lone loss was against undefeated Orange Coast College last week.
Once again, the Orange Empire Conference has some of the toughest competition in the state with undefeated Irvine Valley ranked at #2, Orange Coast #5, Cypress #6, Fullerton #7, and Golden West #10 in the state.
Up Next: Fullerton (8-1, 1-1) will take on undefeated Orange Coast College on the road this Friday, October 10th @ 6:00 pm in an OEC match-up.
