Women's Basketball season comes to an end at CCCAA State Semi-finals

WALNUT, CA - The Women's Basketball play-off run and remarkable season came to an end in the CCCAA State Semi-finals, falling to eventual State Champion Orange Coast, 62-55. The Raiders were trying to reach the CA State title game, the first since 2018-19.  

Both teams opened the game with an abundance of caution as the Pirates opened a 11-4 1st quarter lead but the Raiders reponded with a 9-2 run to end the 1st quarter and tie the game at 13-13. 

The second quarter went back and forth with Orange Coast holding a 4 point lead before the Raiders tied it at 20 with 4:30 left in the half. At that point, the Raiders went on a 9-0 run before the Pirated added a 3 and the Raiders took a 31-23 lead into the half. 

The Raiders maintained their lead throughout the 3rd even extending it to 13 points before the Pirates closed the gap to 9, 45-36 Raiders to end the 3rd

The 4th quarter saw the Raider's lead balloon to 14 points, 52-38, with 7:30 left in the game and the Raiders looked seemingly in control of the game and their destiny but.....Orange Coast went on a 24-3 run to close out the game. The Raiders were nursing a 3 point lead with less than a minute to go but 2 costly turnovers and the Raiders had to foul and the Pirates sank 6 free-throws to close out the game.

Rebecca Saidoff led the Raiders with 17 points. Mika Jarrett added 16 points. Success Prysock grabbed 13 rebounds. 

Although not announced until after the Championship game, Saidoff was named to the All-State Tournament team

 

The Raiders conclude one of the most succesful seasons. They finish with an overall record of 28-4, tying the 2002-03 team for 3rd best. 12-0 in WSC North, winning a 5th straight WSC North title. It was their 5th straight regional final appearence. It was the 4th Elite 8 appearence in the last 5 years. Rebecca Saidoff was named WSC Player of the Year, 1st Team All-WSC, and 1st Team All-State. Rome Falcocchia was named Defensive Player of the Year and 1st Team ALL-WSC. Keilani Peralta was named Sixth Person of the Year and All-WSC Honorable Mention. Mika Jarrett was named 1st Team All-WSC and 2nd Team All-State. Success Prysock and Calista Argaza were named 1st Team All-WSC.
