SOFTBALL: HORNETS MAKE A STATEMENT

Fullerton hosted Golden West College on a wet Wednesday for the Orange Empire Conference opener and enforced the mercy rule on the Rustlers 14-0. 

The Hornets opened up the first inning with an astounding 9 runs and kept the gas pedal down scoring another 5 runs in the fourth.

Pitcher Brigid Ruiz (5-2) grabbed the win going 2.2 innings with no hits and 6 K's. Arianna Ramirez tossed 2 innings giving up a hit with and had 3 K's. Kylie Patrick went 0.1 with a K.

Evelyn Hernandez was 2-3 at the plate and hit her first homerun on the season. She had 2 runs and 2 RBI on the day. Tiffiny Centeno was 3-3 with 2 runs and a RBI. In all, FC collected 18 hits to the Rustlers 1 hit.

Up Next: FC (5-4 overall, 1-0 OEC) today's game at Santa Ana College has been postponed to a later date due to rainy field conditions. The next game will be at home against Antelope Valley College on Tuesday, February 23rd. Game time is at 2:30 pm.
