Sophomore shortstop Carlos Cosio went 3-for-4 with two runs and Cesar Fitch went 1-for-5 with two RBI. Fitch, who started the game as the Knights' first baseman earned the save after pitching the final 1.1 innings with two strikeouts.
Starting pitcher Jake Lipetzky (1-1) went 5.2 innings and allowed two runs on six hits with three strikeouts to earn his first win of the season.
The Knights took a 2-0 lead after scoring a run in each the first and second innings. Jack Sandberg singled in Matt Bagdasar for the first run and Cosio scored in the second inning on a fielding error.
Cypress came back with two runs in the third inning to tie the game, but City responded with a big 4-run fourth inning to take command of the game.
A pinch-hit RBI single by Juan Jacobo, a bases-loaded walk by Bagdasar, and a 2-RBI single by Fitch gave the Knights a 6-2 lead.
Cypress scored runs in the 7th and 8th innings to cut City's lead to 6-4, but that would be as the Chargers would get.
The Knights are home again at Morley Field on Saturday against Cerro Coso with the first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
