CYPRESS, Calif. ---  Monique Martinez faced a full count with two on base in the bottom of the first inning when she decided to hit a triple into the right field wall to put two more Charger runs on the board.

Martinez drove in Mylee Macahilig and Kathy Villa in the bottom of the first to take the quick 4-0 lead heading into the second inning.

After shutting out the Gauchos once again in the top of the second, Alendrina Pichardo hit a double in the bottom of the inning to drive in Khailey Campos and Makia Hastings for two more Charger runs.

The Gauchos managed to close the gap in the top of the fourth when they scored three runs, making it a 3-6 ball game heading into the bottom of the inning.

The Lady Chargers bats got hot in the bottom of the fourth inning as they managed to score six quick runs.  Chelsee Herron's double brought in Villa and Gutierrez for a 10-3 lead and the Chargers never looked back from there.

Cypress ended up taking the commanding 12-3 victory over the Gauchos as Alejandra Guillen won her 10th game of the season on the mound for the Lady Chargers.

Cypress will look to carry their momentum into their very important matchup against Riverside tomorrow night at 6:00 PM.
