WOMEN'S WATER POLO: TOP-RANKED TIGERS TANGLE UP FULLERTON

Fullerton hosted Riverside City College on Wednesday for an Orange Empire Conference showdown and lost 17-13.

The FC loss now gives them an overall record of 14-6 with an Orange Empire record of 2-2. The win bumps Riverside's stellar record to 19-1 overall and 5-0 in the OEC.

The Hornets played a strong game, but in the end were outgunned by the top-ranked Tigers who had more depth on the bench than Fullerton.

RCC took a 3-2 lead by the end of the first quarter and maintained their edge throughout the remainder of the game.

FC sophomore Gabbi Perez, who leads the state in goals scored (122), was double and triple teamed by Tiger defenders the whole game and still manufactured 7 of the Hornet's 13 goals. Marissa Vaccher scored 3 goals and Veronica Ramirez put 2 in the back of the net. Ashley Garcia chipped in with a goal as well.

FC goalkeeper Maddi Garcia had 14 saves on the day.

Up Next: Fullerton (14-6, 2-2) will play at Cypress College on Wednesday, October 19th at 3:00 pm.
