MEN'S BASKETBALL: HORNETS OVERWHELM THE PIRATES

The FC men's basketball team hosted Orange Coast College on Friday night and delivered a convincing 90-75 win over the Pirates.

The Hornet win tonight propels them to 5-0 in the Orange Empire Conference and 16-5 overall. The Pirate loss keeps them winless in the OEC at 0-6 and lands them at 7-14 overall.

OCC came out hot taking a 7-2 lead in the first minutes of the game. Fullerton answered the call going on a 14-6 run taking 16-13 lead at the 10:22 mark.

With just over four minutes left in the half, Ian Fox hit a jumper giving FC a 29-22 edge. Nick Anderson added to the lead hitting a deep three-pointer at the 42 second mark. By the time both teams hit the lockerroom for halftime, Fullerton had a healthy 39-28 lead.

The Pirates did not back down heading into the second half as they hustled their way back within five points (39-34) at 19:22 on a three made free throws by Josh Mendoza.

Getting hot, the Hornets took over the game shooting 70% from the field. By the 10:47 mark, FC had their largest lead of 22 points (66-46).

Overall, Fullerton shot 58.5% to Orange Coast's 39.3%. The Hornets also out-rebounded the Pirates 31-21.

Sophomore guard Ian Fox had another big night for Fullerton scoring a game-high 24 points. He was 4 for 7 from beyond the arc and had 6 assists. Sophomore guard Nick Anderson had 13 points with 6 assists and Kendall Lauderdale had a solid game scoring 12 points with 8 rebounds. Andre Kennedy put up 10 points and Johnathan Ross dropped in 9 points with 5 rebounds. Kenny Barnes also scored 9 points and had 4 rebounds.

Up Next: The Hornets (16-5, 5-0) will host #2 Saddleback College (19-2, 5-0) on Wednesday, January 25th. Tip off is at 7:00 pm.
