CYPRESS, Calif. --- The Cypress Chargers and the Orange Coast Pirates were both coming into Friday nights matchup fighting for the fourth place spot in the Orange Empire Conference.  

The first set was back and forth up until the mid way point.  Tied up at 11 points a piece, the Chargers went on a six point run to take a 17-11 lead.  From that point forward, Cypress never looked back, taking the first set of the night (25-14).

The second set became a little more intense as the Chargers and the Pirates both went back and forth.  Ani Green, Mya Shannon and Damillia Foster all had very powerful and impressive kills in the second set and helped lead the Chargers to a close (25-20) win.

Down 16-8 in the third set, Cypress dug deep.  The Chargers cut the OCC lead to five,(16-11) but found themselves down once again by a score of 21-14.  Just when it looked like Cypress was going to play a fourth set, the Chargers turned it around once again and kept on fighting.

Tied up at 22 all in the third set, the Lady Chargers managed to keep their composure and play with poise.  Holly Webster kept multiple plays alive in the final minutes and gave her teammates many opportunities to make plays.  

The Chargers managed to squeak out a (28-26) victory in set number three and walked off the court with an impressive (25-14), (25-20), (28-26) victory over a very respectable Pirates team.

Webster had a team high 28 digs, Allyson Dekruyf recorded 31 assists and Green added 12 kills to lead the Chargers.

Other notable performances were Mya Shannon's eight kills and Kiki Atuatasi's six kills and six digs.

Cierra Boaz continued to play well, adding on four blocks for Cypress.

The Chargers have now won back to back (3-0) victories and are peaking at the right time.  Cypress will travel to face Fullerton College on Oct. 30th, starting at 7pm.
