WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: BREAKTHROUGH!

In a tough road game against #11 Santa Ana College, the Hornets managed to upset the Dons 84-70.

Relentless on defense, Fullerton forced the Dons to turn the ball over 30 times. FC took advantage of those turnovers scoring 28 points.

The win gives the Hornets their first of the season in the Orange Empire Conference at 1-3. Their overall record now stands at 5-11. The Santa Ana loss drops them to 13-7 overall and 2-2 in the OEC.

The Dons held an early 18-16 lead after the first quarter before being outscored by Fullerton 25-17 in the second quarter. FC held a 41-35 lead at the half.

The Dons made a push with three minutes left in the third quarter coming within one point of FC (50-49), but the Hornets held on to their lead finishing the quarter 56-52.

In the fourth, Fullerton went on a 22-11 run going up 78-63. From there, the Hornets secured the much-needed win.

Emilee Dy had her best game as a Hornet scoring a game-high 35 points. She also 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals on the night. Nancy De La Cruz put up 13 points with 4 steals and Melissa Madrigal scored 11 points with 5 steals. Mika Wilson played big off the bench scoring 11 points with 3 rebounds.

Up Next: The Hornets (5-1, 1-3) will host Saddleback College this Friday, January 22nd. Game time is at 7:00 pm. Come on out and support the Hornets!
