WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: HORNETS TAKE OUT TECH

In a non-conference match-up, the FC women's basketball team hosted Los Angeles Trade Tech College on Tuesday night with the Hornets holding off the Beavers 71-65.

The win gives the Hornets an overall record of 3-2, while the LA Trade Tech loss bumps them to 2-5 overall.

FC took control of the first quarter early taking an 8-4 lead at the 6:26 mark. The Beavers managed to tie the game up 8-8 (5:43), but Fullerton ended the quarter with a 21-17 lead.

In the second quarter, Trade Tech made their move taking their first lead of the game on a couple of free throws by Megan Joseph to go up 30-28 (4:54). FC took the lead back (34-32) on a nice jumper by Emily Dy with 2:27 left in the half. By halftime, the Hornets held on to a narrow 37-36 lead.

It was back-and-forth during the third quarter, until Fullerton's Nancy De La Cruz hit a shot with a minute left to go up 51-46. 

With the score tied at 55-55 with five minutes left in regulation, Dy put Fullerton up for good on after making a strong move to the basket. After that, the Hornets opened up a 71-62 lead with 4 seconds left. As time ran out, Tech's Jazzlyn Moore hit a deep three-pointer setting the final score in FC's favor at 71-65.

For the game, there were 8 ties and 6 lead changes.

Jasmine Young had a big night for the Hornets locking down a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Dy scored 15 points and Mika Wilson put up 12. Melissa Madrigal scored 10 points and had 3 steals. De La Cruz chipped in with 9 points and 6 rebounds.

Up Next: FC (3-2) will play in the Los Angeles Valley Tournament December 11-13. Fullerton will be opening up against San Bernardino Valley College on Friday, December 11th at 5:00 pm.
