Men’s Basketball Loses Close One to Riverside, 60-58

Cypress – The Charger men's basketball team (7-10, 0-2 OEC) narrowly dropped its first home game of the season on Friday, falling to Riverside (7-10, 2-0 OEC) by a score of 60-58.

Cypress led the entire first half and went into the break up 29-26. The men continued to stay in front of Riverside throughout most of the second half, even building to an 11 point lead at the 16:57 mark, but the Tigers would claw back into the game, taking their first lead with 2:51 remaining (55-54), and then go on to win, 60-58.

Three players scored in double-digits for the Chargers – Jordan Fleck (14), Jeremy Wright (13) and Nolan Kelly (12). Isaiah Taylor led the team with six rebounds, while Wright led the team in both assists (3) and steals (3).

The Chargers continue their home stand next Friday, hosting Santa Ana (8-8, 0-1 OEC) at 7:00 pm. The game will be a rematch of the San Diego Mesa Tournament finale in which the Dons defeated Cypress 66-65 in the championship game.
