SOFTBALL: HORNETS ARE STEPPING UP

Fullerton took a trip down to Santa Ana College on Wednesday for an Orange Empire Conference game and pulled off a 6-2 win over the Dons.

The Hornet win is their third straight improving their overall record to 12-9 and their OEC record to 5-3. FC handed Santa Ana their fourth straight loss dropping their overall record to 7-14 and their OEC record to 2-6.

Santa Ana took a 1-0 lead on Christina McCullogh's RBI single to center field in the first inning.

The Fullerton offense came to life in the fourth inning tacking up three runs to take a 3-1 lead. The Hornets went on to add three more runs in the sixth inning, including a solo home run by Becca Perez taking a healthy 6-1 lead.

The Dons got another run across in the fourth inning on a Fullerton error.

FC pitcher Brigid Ruiz (12-7) took the win allowing 0 earned runs on 5 hits with 3 K's and no walks.

Up Next: The Hornets (12-9, 5-3) will play in the Santa Barbara City College Tournament this weekend (March 19-20).
