SOFTBALL: HORNETS SINK PIRATES

The FC softball squad hosted Orange Coast College on Friday beating the Pirates 4-1 for a much-needed conference win.

After losing to OEC rival Saddleback College 8-2 on the road last Wednesday, FC was able to play at home grabbing a conference win setting their record at 8-4 overall and 3-2 in the OEC. The Orange Coast loss sets them back to 2-9 overall and 1-4 in the OEC.

Fullerton took advantage early scoring two runs in the 1st inning on a ripped double by LF Shaylynn Chapman that allowed Felisha Gomez and Miranda Hernandez to cross the plate.

In the 3rd inning Gomez hit a single that brought Hernandez home. Then catcher Allison Smith hit a SAC fly to right field allowing Gomez to score the fourth run.

In the 5th OCC put a scare into the Hornets when they put four runners on the field, but FC pitcher Evelyn Hernandez work her way out the inning only allowing one to score. Ariana Lopez's single to left field gave Nicole Rodriguez the opportunity to score the Pirates only run.

FC Starter Nicole Pratt got the win going 4.1 innings with 1 earned run against on 5 hits. She had 3 K's on the day. Hernandez went 1.2 innings with only 1 hit against. Brigid Ruiz put in an inning of work grabbing the save.
