BASEBALL: WALK OFF SAC FLY

The Hornets hosted Grossmont College on Tuesday pulling off a 3-2 win over the Griffins.

The non-conference win boosts FC's record to 3-1, while the Griffin loss lands them at 1-3 overall.

In the top of the fourth, with the score tied 1-1, Grossmont loaded the bases with no outs. FC starting pitcher Anthony Parente held strong with no runs surrendered. 3B Kevin Foley grabbed the third out of the inning stretching out for a hard-hit liner to end the Griffin threat.

The Hornets went up 2-1 in the fifth on a shot by Josh Balbuena to left right field scoring Laine Huffman.

Grossmont tied it up 2-2 on a wild pitch that scored Michael Diffley. 

With the scored tied at two a piece in the bottom of the ninth, FC loaded the bases with one out. Laine Huffman kept the game from going into extra innings on a SAC fly to right field scoring Daniel Tuerffs to win the game.

RP Louis Corral earned the win putting in an inning of work with no hits against. Starter Anthony Parente went 6.1 innings giving up 2 runs with 3 K's. RP Dylan DeChavez went 1.2 innings giving up only a hit.

Austin O'Banion was 2-4 at the plate for the Hornets with a RBI. Justin Row had a hit and a run, and Huffman had 2 hits with a RBI and run.

Up Next: The Hornets (3-1) will play at Bakersfield College for a two road games. Game one will be this Friday at 6:00 pm and game two will be played on Saturday at 12:00 pm.
