Costa Mesa, CA – On Tuesday January 28th, 2020 our Baseball team travelled to Orange Coast College to take on the Pirates in their home opener for the 2020 season.  There was an emotional day as this was the first time the OCC Pirates took the field without their Head Coach John Altobelli in the last 27 seasons.  Coach Altobelli was apart of the eight others who lost their lives in the tragic helicopter crash that took place on Sunday January 25th

OCC had a pre-game memorial set up and the media was everywhere.  There were over 2,000 fans and public in attendance to the game to pay their respects.  Our Assistant Coach David Dinerman spoke on behalf of our program to during the tribute.  The Jags went down the line and hugged every player on the Pirates' team prior to the game.  Everyone was there to play the game they loved!

The game was scoreless until the top of the 3rd inning when Ryan Major hit a single to shortstop and Hinojosa scored getting us on the board.  Along with Hinojosa, Ramirez, Major and Fuentes all scored in the 3rd inning putting us at 4-0.  It wasn't until the top of the 6th inning where the Jags were successful in scoring.  Contreras scored off of Chacon's single, Zazutea scored on a steal and Chacon scored on a ball putting the Jags at 7 runs.

Our Jags' defense was able to keep the Pirates to only one run in the 3rd inning.  Then they scored four more runs in the 6th and one in the 7th

The game was halted due to darkness and will conclude on February 18th prior to the rematch game scheduled for 2pm.

You can catch our Jags Baseball team at The Junction Field Saturday February 1st in a double-header against Victor Valley. First game is at 11am.
