MEN'S BASKETBALL: FLYING HIGHER THAN FALCONS

The SoCal #10 FC men's basketball team passed their first test at the 44th Riverside City College Holiday Tournament on Tuesday taking down #14 Cerritos College 80-73.

The game was relatively close in the first minutes of the contest, and then Cerritos made their move going on a 7-0 run taking their largest lead, 21-14, at 9:55 in the first half.

FC took the Falcon's biggest punch, and did not bat an eye as they fought their way back taking a 24-23 lead on an Isaiah Clark bucket (5:48). Jayson Collins added to the lead, 35-25, on a three-pointer with three minutes left in the half.

Fullerton was up 36-29 at the start of the second half. The Hornet defense kept any threat of a Falcon offensive outburst at bay throughout the rest of the game.

The Hornets took their biggest lead, 69-56, on a pair of free throws by Kenny Barnes at 5:05.

Cerritos pulled within five on a Brian Nebo layup with 47 seconds left in the game, but it was too little too late for the Falcons.

Forward Barnes had an outstanding game locking down a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds (both game highs). Point Guard Ian Fox was able to score 17 points, bring down 7 rebounds, and dish out 6 assists. Clark managed 13 points with 4 rebounds and Blake McBride scored 7 with 5 rebounds.

Up Next: Fullerton (9-3 overall) will play against #2 in SoCal San Bernardino Valley College in Wheelock Gym for day two of the Riverside Tournament. Tip off is at 3:00 pm.
