Desert honing in on OEC title

With three events remaining, College of the Desert has got an Orange Empire Conference title in clear site.  The Roadrunners are 55-1 in OEC play, leading in the conference standings by 10 games.

Desert has won all but one event so far, finishing second at Singing Hills last week.  Outside of that, the Roadrunners are averaging 328.6 team per-tournament, winning the other seven events by an average of 11 strokes.

Saddleback College currently sits one game ahead of Mt. San Antonio College in the race for second place.  The Gauchos and Mounties have gone back and forth all season, and likely won't decide things until the final day of the season.

The race for the individual medley honors appears to be a race between three players.  Mt. SAC's Precious Saelee (right) currently leads the crowd with a 75.9 scoring average for the year.  Saelee won the opening event of the season at Desert Willow when she shot a +2 round of 74.  She also captured medalist honors at St. Mark when she shot +3 (75).  Saelee also tied for medalist honors at Singing Hills when she shot a 3-over-par round of 75.

Saddleback's Katie Stribling (left) is currently second in the medalist standings and has a scoring average of 76.4.  Stribling won events outright at Royal Vista when she shot 73 (+2) and at Mesa Linda when she fired a +5 round of 75.  In addition, she was co-medalist with Saelee at Singing Hills (75).

College of the Desert's Lilyanna Rodriguez (middle) currently sits in third place in the standings with a scoring average of 78.9.  Rodriguez shot the round of the year at Arroyo Trabuco when she was 1-under-par on the par-72 layout.  She was also medalist at Los Serranos when she shot a 1-over-par round of 75.

Orange Empire Conference play has one more regular season match at Via Verde Golf Course next Wednesday before playing in the Orange Empire Conference Finals on October 28th & 30th at Los Serranos Golf Club.
