Desert Starts Hot in OEC Play

The 2019 women's golf schedule started this past week and College of the Desert has taken the early lead through two rounds of Orange Empire Conference play.  The Roadrunners have shot 328 and 314 to start 14-0 in OEC play.

Desert is new to the Orange Empire Conference this season after playing a handful of seasons in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference.  The Roadrunners wasted no time in introducing themselves to the new opponents, lighting up the links in the first two rounds.

Desert opened up OEC play on their home course (Desert Willow Resort) last Wednesday and won the opening event by 21 shots over Saddleback College.  The Roadrunners had two rounds in the 70's on the par-72 layout, with Raegan Preece and Lilyanna Rodriguez both shooting identical 79's.

Desert followed up the win last week with a win on Monday at Soboba Country Club by firing a team total of 314.  Preece was the medalist on Monday when she shot a 1-under par round of 71.  Rodriguez finished second to Preece in medalist play with a round of 75.  Mt. San Antonio finished in second place at Soboba with a team score of 336.
